Position: Non-Executive Director – M&A and Strategic Growth Specialist
Location: London (with occasional national travel)
Remuneration: £35,000 per annum
Time Commitment: Approx. 2–3 days per month


About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Non-Executive Director (NED) with specialist expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and strategic growth. This appointment will strengthen the Board with a focus on identifying, assessing, and guiding opportunities for expansion and long-term value creation.

The successful candidate will bring deep insight into corporate transactions, market development, and growth strategies, ensuring the organisation is well-positioned to deliver sustainable impact and strong financial performance.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide independent oversight, constructive challenge, and strategic guidance to the Board and Executive team.

  • Advise on potential mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and joint ventures, ensuring rigorous evaluation of risks and opportunities.

  • Support the development and delivery of growth strategies, with a focus on long-term sustainability and stakeholder value.

  • Ensure effective governance, compliance, and alignment with regulatory and fiduciary responsibilities.

  • Bring external market insight, sector knowledge, and innovative thinking to inform Board decision-making.

  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation, strengthening external networks and stakeholder relationships.

  • Contribute to Board committees as required, particularly in areas of finance, risk, and strategic development.


Qualifications

Person Specification

Essential

  • Significant board-level or senior executive experience with a track record in M&A and strategic growth.

  • Deep understanding of financial modelling, deal structuring, and integration planning.

  • Strong governance knowledge and ability to balance entrepreneurial drive with regulatory discipline.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills at Board and senior stakeholder levels.

  • Commercial acumen with the ability to spot opportunities, challenge assumptions, and ensure sound decision-making.

Desirable

  • Previous non-executive or trustee experience.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks within [insert sector – e.g. housing, financial services, healthcare, etc.].

  • Strong London and national networks to support the organisation’s growth ambitions.

Time Commitment & Remuneration

The role requires around 2–3 days per month, including Board and committee meetings, preparation, and ad-hoc advisory input.

This is a remunerated position of £35,000 per annum plus reasonable expenses.
