The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Non-Executive Chair to support the next stage of growth of a fast-growing, founder-led UK consumer services business. This is a hands-on, strategically active chair role for someone who combines strong governance with genuine commercial support — working closely with the Founder & CEO, the board and shareholders as the company moves into an ambitious, acquisition-led growth phase.

The business is building toward a technology-enabled, buy-and-build growth strategy, and is seeking a chair who has helped founder-led companies navigate exactly this kind of journey: scaling, professionalising governance, managing shareholders through change, and preparing for institutional investment. This is a governance appointment with a strong strategic dimension — the chair leads and challenges the board and supports the CEO, without stepping into day-to-day management.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

Chairing and leading the board, ensuring constructive challenge, clear accountability and effective decision-making
Mentoring, guiding and holding the CEO to account, while protecting management from unnecessary board and shareholder distraction
Helping manage shareholder expectations and maintain alignment around the company's strategy
Supporting the CEO and board through negotiations to acquire shares from certain early investors
Helping position the business for a subsequent strategic or institutional fundraise
Supporting investor introductions and providing board-level oversight of fundraising and transaction processes
Providing strategic input and governance oversight on an acquisition-led growth strategy, including on valuation, capital allocation and integration
Ensuring sound governance and risk oversight as the business scales

Qualifications

What we're looking for

Chair, CEO, investor or senior board-level experience
A track record of working with founder-led, high-growth businesses
Strong shareholder management and negotiation judgement
Genuine understanding of fundraising, M&A and buy-and-build strategies
A strong network across private equity, strategic investors and corporate finance
A commercial, pragmatic style — able to challenge the CEO constructively while respecting the line between board oversight and executive management

How success will be measured

Strong alignment between the CEO, board and shareholders
Successful completion of the proposed share buyback
A successful growth capital raise at an attractive valuation
Sound governance and strategic oversight of the group's acquisition-led growth
