About the Organisation
Our client is one of the UK's leading food and farming assurance organisations, underpinning trusted standards across the food supply chain — from farm to pack. Operating in a complex, stakeholder-led environment spanning farmers, processors, retailers, government and industry partners, it plays a vital role in safeguarding food safety, animal welfare, traceability and environmental responsibility.

The organisation's identity will be disclosed to shortlisted candidates under confidentiality.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Non-Executive Finance Director to join the Board and provide independent, Board-level financial oversight, governance challenge and strategic insight. This is an opportunity for a senior finance leader to contribute to an organisation at the heart of British food and farming, helping to steward its financial health and reinforce confidence in its standards.

Working alongside fellow Board members and the executive team, you will bring an independent voice to financial strategy, risk and controls, and support the organisation in navigating a demanding multi-stakeholder landscape.

Responsibilities

Provide independent, Board-level scrutiny and challenge on financial performance, strategy and long-term sustainability.
Support robust financial governance, internal controls, risk management and audit processes.
Contribute to sound decision-making on budgets, investment and financial planning.
Bring constructive challenge and strategic advice to the Board and its committees.
Act as a trusted, independent adviser in a stakeholder-led assurance environment, upholding the highest standards of corporate governance.

Qualifications

Essential
Current or former CFO, Group Finance Director or Finance Director, with significant senior finance leadership experience.
Board-level experience and a strong understanding of corporate governance.
Demonstrable expertise in financial controls, risk management and audit processes.
The credibility and independence of mind to provide effective challenge and strategic advice.
Highly desirable
Previous Non-Executive Director experience.
Audit Committee experience, or Chair/committee experience.
Experience operating in stakeholder-led environments — for example food, agriculture or FMCG; standards, assurance or regulatory bodies; membership organisations, charities, levy boards or public bodies.

Why Join
This is a rare opportunity to lend your financial leadership to a purpose-driven organisation that touches millions of consumers and thousands of British farms. You will help protect the integrity of a trusted national assurance scheme while shaping its financial resilience for the future.
